Anil Pandey is a Partner with Strategy& and a member of the firm’s Energy, Chemicals, and Utilities practice in the Middle East. He has over 19 years of experience in the oil & gas sector including 10 years in management consulting with a focus on the upstream oil & gas sector.
He specializes in advising major national oil companies (NOCs) in the region on their corporate strategy formulations and execution, performance improvement, and operating model design and implementation.
Most recently, Anil has led client assignments in:
- The establishment of an integrated downstream subsidiary for a major integrated Middle East NOC
- The establishment of an R&D center, including its strategy and operating model design and execution for the entire oil & gas sector for a major Middle East country striving to ramp up the development of world class R&D capability to unlock production and reserves gain
- The restructuring of a major Middle East NOC to improve its strategic focus in key business areas and prepare for growth in operations
- The holistic review of the local content agenda for a major Middle East NOC, which included designing a new operating model and defining performance improvement areas to address key gaps
In addition to his client work, he has authored the Strategy& report “From technology adopters to innovators: How R&D can catalyze innovation in Middle East national oil companies, “ and articles in leading industry publications – “Cost and Effect- How National Oil Companies can transform their cost structure amid market rout” and “Middle East EOR”.
Prior to joining Strategy&, Anil worked with Schlumberger across the Middle East, South East Asia, and North America in various operational and leadership roles, including managing their shale gas operations in the U.S..
He holds a Bachelor of Technology in manufacturing science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and a Diploma in corporate finance from London Business School.
